It wasn’t long ago that we covered Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine’s lawsuit yet the Los Angeles jury on the case have already sided with entrepreneur Steven Lamar in his claim that he suggested the concept of creating celebrity-backed headphones to the team back in 2006, resulting in the Beats by Dre brand.

Consequently, this has not only awarded Lamar $25 million from the specific damages involving the Studio line of headphones, but also allows Lamar to receive royalties from the Studio 3 headphones which are still on sale today. Furthermore, Lamar is “also entitled to his attorneys’ fees and prejudgement interest under California law,” leading to a total amount of over $40 million.
