The Houston-based company, Orion Span, has stated that they will be the first to open a hotel in space, and hope to do so by 2012. Specifically, the 35ft-by-14ft vessel is set to orbit 200 miles above Earth and will allow 6 people to stay at one time, although 2 of these people will be crew members.
As for what your stay will look like, the 4 guests will spend 12 days in space living like astronauts, although having said that, the company is set to produce a station unlike any other as it will be furnished with the most luxurious ways possible. Furthermore, the station will include a VR experience called ‘The Holodeck’ named after the scene that appears in Star Trek in which crew members can explore various landscapes that they may be missing since heading into space. Finally, to finish the experience off the hotel will orbit Earth every 90 minutes, consequently this means that the visitors will be able to see 16 sunrises and sunsets everyday.
As for what this will cost, you better start saving up as not only will it set you back an eye-watering $9.5 M, but also 3 months of your life as it before you can set out you must undergo a fairly intense training scheme in order to prepare you for it all.
