It wasn’t long ago that the American video game and software development corporation, Epic Games, announced that they are planning on providing $100 million worth of prize money in Fortnite eSports competitions. However, it appears that this is spare change to the company as it has been revealed that from Fortnite alone they have made $296 million in revenue throughout April alone.
This seems particularly surprising as the game is free-to-play, meaning that there is no cost involved in downloading and playing it, although with the game comes a whole array of customisable cosmetic options that either require real world money or tens of hours of playtime to attain.
