Former lightweight champion, Conor McGregor, has recently experienced a barrage of backlash following an attack he carried out during the UFC 223 media day. Specifically, The athlete accompanied by his entourage attacked the bus in which a number of fighters were being transported, he did so by throwing various objects at the vehicle as it was leaving the Barclays Center located in Brooklyn, with the most damaging effects taking place once McGregor threw a dolly at the window, smashing it and injuring Michael Chiesa, Ray Borg and UFC Vice President, Reed Harris. Consequently Chiesa and Borg have now been pulled from the upcoming event as well as McGregor’s teammate, Artem Lobov, due to his involvement in the incident. The reason for it taking place is supposedly due to fighter, Khabib Nurmagomedov, apparently slapping, disrespecting and intimidating Artem Lobov with his entourage while Lobov was alone at his hotel, causing him to have to leave the establishment early.

As for the repercussions, Ira Judelson, the New York City bail bondsman, stated that Conor wont have to wear an ankle bracelet but is set to have to pay a $50k bond if he is to be released on bail, and even if he does make the payment he must continue to report to Ira once a week by phone as well as having his travel plans pre-approved by the individual otherwise the court could take his passport.

As for the UFC, they made in an official statement in which they said: “During today’s media event at Barclays Center to promote UFC 223: Khabib vs. Holloway, Conor McGregor and Artem Lobov entered the building accompanied by over a dozen individuals.

The group, which included McGregor and Lobov, vandalized the vehicle that contained a number of athletes competing at the event taking place this weekend. NYPD was immediately alerted and is currently in the process of investigating the situation. UFC is working very closely with the New York Athletic Commission, Barclays Center security and law enforcement authorities. All parties are working together to ensure the highest standard of proper safety precautions are implemented to protect the fans and athletes.

The organization deems today’s disruption completely unacceptable and is currently working on the consequences that will follow. Immediately, Lobov has been removed from this weekend’s card and individuals involved in the incident are not welcome at tomorrow’s ceremonial weigh-in or Saturday’s event at Barclays Center.”
