Nike: ON AIR is an event at which 4-hour creative sessions are hosted by the footwear company for the general public with the aim to take applicants through the same process that a Nike footwear designer goes through when producing a shoe. Specifically, this year the people of London will be submitting their own concept for a London Air Max based on an existing Air Max icon.

Once all concepts have been submitted, a panel of experts will select their three favourites designs to be converted into various 3D models and put forward to the world via the Nike: ON AIR voting hub, at which everyone can go and vote on which London Air Max design best suits the city. From here the winning designer will make their way to Nike’s Oregon campus to meet the production team and bring their design to life.

As for the panel of judges, Nike’s Senior Design Director, Nate Jobe, and the Vice President Creative Director of Colour Design, Courtney Dailey, will make an appearance as well as the fashion designer and creative, Alexandra Hackett, and Grime MC, Skepta. Unfortunately, if you were excited to take part we have some bad news for you as the application process is already closed but keep an eye out for the Nike: ON AIR voting hub so you can have a say in which design might end up on your feet!
