A Planned Parenthood branch in Pennsylvania is facing a barrage of criticism after taking to Twitter to state that we need to see a Disney princess who’s had an abortion. Not only this but the tweet went on to suggest other Disney Princesses such as: “an undocumented immigrant,” a “union worker,” and a princess that is “trans.”
As you can imagine this caused a rather large backlash leading to the account deleting their tweet after just two hours. However, after individuals screenshotted the tweet it was widely shared on social media for people to once again criticise with the majority of the people saying they are shocked the organisation believes they should involve children in matters that should be left for adults.
Even those who strongly agree with the organisation’s message have spoken out in response, with one user stating: “I support Planned Parenthood, however, Disney Princesses don’t have abortions because they don’t have sex. They don’t have genitalia. They don’t have real problems. They represent an idealistic escape, not a reflection of society. Stop.”
