For those who don’t know Jesse James was an American outlaw, bank and train robber, guerrilla, and leader of the notorious James–Younger Gang, who up until his assassination in 1882 was a living folk hero to some and a cold-blooded criminal to others. Jesse picked up a fair bit of loot in his time, however, after purchasing a 19th-century image on eBay for £7 it looks like Justin Whiting could be getting a big pay-day of his own.
Justin Whiting, who is a self-professed American outlaw fan, had spent time researching Jesse James and all of his antics, so when he saw the previously mentioned 19th-century picture online he had his suspicions that the individual in the image was Jesse himself, and after receiving the picture and sending it to a forensic expert he was surprised to find out he was, in fact, correct and that the picture was estimated to be worth around $2,000,000.
The Californian 19th-century photography expert, Will Dunniway, who verified the item had this to say: “It was an easy match since it was compared to a longtime known image of the young Jesse James at 14,”
Further explaining to Fox News. “Justin’s image, however, was the same pose taken the same day by the same photographer […] [It’s a] one-of-a-kind original that most likely was handled by the teenaged Jesse James himself.”
